VE-Day Service At Miscouche Yeslertiay

was fittingiy observed .' mday at Miscouchc when. un- der the auspices of the Miscouche Branch of the Canadian Legion. jOlnPd by members from the Sum- nic:-sidc Branch. a memorial ser- l'-C0 uas held in the church at 3:30 in the afternoon.

The ceremony was attended by H.s Honor Lt.-Governor J. A. Ber- nard and Mrs. Bernard. Lt.-Col. P S. Fielding. Aide de Camp to the Li.-Governor. His Worship Henry W, Wcdgc and Mrs. Wedge.

To the strains of a military march. tiic members of the Legion cnicrcd the church and were wel- C0nlDd by the parish priest. Rev. J. D. Kelly.

Fatlicr Kelly said that they were gathered together to pay a small ti-Route to the young men of the parish who had given their lives in the defence of freedom.

He welcomed the distinguished gtic-sts and the Legion members and to the parents of those who had fallen in battle. he said they rhnuld be proud to be the fathers and mothers of those who had so bravely given their all in so worthy a cause.

Lt.-Governor Bernard said "to. day we celebrate VE-Day and to some of the younger folk it may have little significance. To you man and women who served and fought in the last war it is the amavcrsary of that day five years ago when the German armies col. iapseii and actual fighting ceased

it is well for us to remember those victorious ovenLs of five years ago. it is well to rehearse them from time to time and lo hrxng to posterity their meaning which has meant so much to the world and to mankind. Nurses' Sunday is Observed Al Summerside

The annual observance of Nurse.s' Sunday took place last evening in Summerside with local nurses attending church services in uniform at St. Paul's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Anglican Church.

At St. Paul's the regular Sunday owning service in connection with the perpetual novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help was held and the sermon. appropriate to Nurses Sunday. was preached by Rev. J. H. LeClair. Father LeClair rid- monished those who hav the duty of caring for the sick. at ways to keep themselves in the state of grace and always to see Christ in the patients they are caring for

Benediction of the most blessed sacrament was celebrated by Rev A. J. MacLead. The pastor. Rt. Rev. Msgr. G. J. MacLellan was present in the sanctuary.

At St. Mary's the hymns sung were in keeping with the occasion and the rector. Ven. Archdeacon G. R. Harrison extended words of welcome to the visiting nurses. in a forceful sermon he told them that they were members of I noble calling in which they would be subjected to many discourage- ments and he pointed out that they should practice the virtue of patience.-S.

The Tignish local association of Girl Guides held a most success- ful dance in the Legion Home on Wednesday evening. A lIrge crowd attended and enjoyed the dancing on a good floor to the

splendid music of the Tignish orchestra. Refreshments were served.

The ice has left that shore. but on the Tignish side the fishermen cannot take chances in setting herring nets as there is quito I quantity of floating ice in the

After I delicious lunch was served all departed to their homes wishing Annie, Ivan and Lloyd many years of happiness in their new home.

It seems only a short time since we met together before to welcome you Annie. to our com- munity. and to wish you and Ivan every happiness in your life together and we are sorry that your stay among us has been so short, but we are glad that the distance is not so great that you will be unable to renew acquain- tances. which you were a faithful and efficient member. This ma- chine has a large storage capa- city with thrce compartments for both bulk and package ice cream. This machine including stainless steel fittings and functional parts is the latest in electrical ice cream refrigerators and was supplied by the Perfection Dairies.

Mr. Leroy Delaney has taken I position with the Tryon Creamery Company. This is his second sum- mer in the butter making busi- ness.

Many of the young people of Albany and North Tryon attend- ed the picture show held in Crap- Iud every Friday and Saturday night. They report I very inter- esting attraction. and amusing show.

Potatoes are is hot issue in this section of Prince Edward Island Unrest over the potato situntion Imong the tumors in this part of Prince County in green. Theresa made I gracious speech expressing her appreciation. especially thanking the institute for their carefully chosen gift and inviting her friends to visit her in her new home.
