maritime clubs, including the P.E.1. Canada Games Squad. The Panthers will be travelling to Mt. Allison for the second game of their season as they will meet the Mounties on Saturday, Sep- tember 25 as part of the annual homecoming celebration.

Briefs downs this past weekend in soccer and field hockey action.

The women’s field hockey team had a tough weekend in New Brunswick losing 3-0 and 5-0 to the UNB Red Sticks. The strong UNB squad overwhelmed the Panthers in this opening week- end of the 1993 AUAA field hockey season. UNB now has a perfect 2-0 record, while the Panthers fall to 0-2.

In soccer, at MacAdam Field, the men’s team remained winless as they were defeated in their home opener 1-0 by the Saint Mary’s Huskies from Halifax. The Panthers played a strong game in an attempt to gain their first win of the season, but could not get the ball past Huskies’ netminder Chad MacDonald, who was in the Saint Mary's net for the shutout. The Panthers will try again this Saturday at 4 pm when they play Memorial University from Newfoundland, also at MacAdam Field on the UPEI campus. °

The women’s soccer team also played this weekend and were able to salvage the week for UPEI athletics. The Panthers played host to Memorial University, and the visitors proved to be no match. UPEI won their games 2-1 and 4- 0 with the entire team contributing in each game. With their wins, the Panthers saw their record climb to 3-0 to start the 1993 season.
