GENERAL MEMORANDUM.

Inspector’s Office. 17th June, 1867.

’FHE attention of Captains of Volunteer Militia, to whom - arms have been issued, is called to the very serious obligation they have entered into by their Bonds, “not to allow the same, while under their charge and control, to be used for any unlawful and improper purpose.”

Arms and accoutrements are entrusted to the Volunteer Militia. for strictly Military purposes; and any member of the Force making use of either on any occasion but that of duty, renders the Oflicers of the Company to which he belongs liable to the forfeiture of the full amount of the Bond they have signed; and any violation of this obligation will ensure strict enforcement of the penalty thereby incurred.

THE whole of the Companies of the above Regiment will muster for annual training on TUESDAY, the 23rd of JULY, 1867. The Lieutenant Colonelcommanding will name the subsequent days of drill, until the training is completed. Captains to be ordered immediately to warn their mem to meet at the head-quarters of each Company for drill, on the days appointed. Captains of Companies to name the hours most convenient for drill.

The Staff Drill Instructors must report themselves to the Lieutenant Colonel commanding the Regiment on their arrival in the district.

WHEREAS a Commission hearing date the 6th day of

JULY, instant. has been issued to us, under and by virtue Of an Act passed in the 14th year of the reign of Her present Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled “An Act to regulate the laying out and altering of Highways,” and the Act in amendment thereof, whereby we are commanded to estimate the damage or advantage that mav accrue to those persons who are interested in the land through which a certain new Road is intended to pass, leading from Pdtrick O’Hare’s towards Pisquid New Bridge, and from Clarke's Bridge to the said new line of Road, by avoiding Walker’s Hill, in Lot or Township Number 37 :

Now, we do hereby give Public Notice to all persons concerned, that we will commence the exection Ofthe said Commission by at- tending at the house Ofthe said Patrick O’Hare, in Township Number Thirty-seven aforesaid, on MONDAY, the 19th day of AUGUST next, at the hour often O’clock, in the forenoon of the said day, and proceed along the said intended new line Of Road, and complete the said Commission according to law.

Given under our hands the 15th day of July, 1867.

Wood Islands, July 1st, 1867. Tenders for Lunatic Asylum.

\HE Trustees of the Lunatic Asylum are desirous of con- tracting for the supply of the Institution for six months, from the let of August, 1867, with the following articles, viz :

Fresh BEEF, per lb. FLOUR, Island, per lb.

do American. per barrel, OATMEAL, per lb. 6 TONS Sydney Round COAL. 15 TONS Pictou Round, and 30 TONS Pictou Slack COAL.

The BEEF to consist of fore and bind quarters, which, with the other articles, are to be delivered at the Asylum, to order, when required.

Tenders for each, separately or together, will be received at the Asylum. or at the office of Theophilus DesBrisay, Esqr.. until WEDNESDAY, the 31st day of JULY, instant, at 12

o’clock, noon. By order of the Trustees, R. M. GIDLEY, Master.
