Te sanitary condition of our city is not all that could be desired. Offensive smells abound on several of our streets, occasioned by the filth in adjacent yards. Cleanliness costs but little and benefits greatly. It should be practiced more generally.

The fishery flagship Acadia sailed yester- day, and will swoop down upon the Yankee poachers now investing Chebucto Bay.

A terrible accident happened to-night which will likely result in the death of a prominent society young lady. Edward | Carney and Miss Ciconi, who were to be married, were thrown out of a wagon. Miss Ciconi’s jaw was smashed and her} skull fractured. She was still unconscious | at midnight. Mr. Carney was badly in- jured. Both were prominent singers and | musicians.
