Of this number 3 205 are from tle United States, 845 from England Cavada. Of the population 3,659 are male and 786 female. Included in the total are 163 children under the age of 14 years. During the period of one- month, from Angust 26 to Sept. 26, according to notes kept by the police, 1,736 people left Daweou for Cape Nome and outside, and witbia the same time 1,358 people arrived.

A Drivixe Tour.—Mr Jacob Vanbus- kirk returned on Saturday from Prince Edward Island, where he had spent some- thing over two monthsin a driving tour, visiting his many friends and calling at most points of interest. The Island is Mr. Vanbuskirk’s native province, aod he bas visited it a good many times since remov- iug to New Brunswick, but he says he never ‘aw Buch abundant crops as he saw

thisyear. Grain and hay were especially abundant, but the potato crop is also large and of good quality. The big storm beat the grain in some places and mhere ripe enough shelled it badly, one farmer esti- mating his loss in this way at one hundred bushels of wheat alone. The crop is so enormous, however, that the joss in this way is ecarcely felt. - Moncton Times.

Mrs. Jane Oliver, of Hoboken, went to the meeting of apatriotic order of which she was a member one evening. and as she did not return at mid- pight Mr. Oliver set forth in search of her.
