The main part of our programme at school-the scholastic work-has been well carried on. It must be stressed that the habit of study is one that must be learned and then fostered by the watchful guidance of parents as well as teachers. Too often we have a let-down in home supervision as the pupil reaches the higher grades, for, in mlny instances. the parents feel they are unable to check the sc- Ci-lrﬂvy 0f such home work. Cadet work was carried out at the usual high standard. the in- structlonal work of high education- a1 value, canted on after school hours, provide an outlet for much of the surplus energy of our cadets- Courses in First Aid, Signallins. Physical Drill, Rifle Shooting. Milt‘) Reading, were held. _

The Annual Retreat for the senior pupils was conducted at St. Duns- tan'g College by Rev. Dr. McMahon. We consider the inculcatlon of re- ligious training during these school years a matter of prime importance and we are indebted to Dr. McMa- honnnd the Redemptorlst Fathers for their aid and cooperation in this most necessary phase of the education of our youth.

To the donors of prizes who have so generously given such tangible proof of their interest in our school we offer sincere thanks. This ln- cantiva to greater effort on the part of the boys, adds much to the interest in the various subjects taught.

To the senior pupils who are graduating at this time, I extend on behalf of the staff. best Wishes. we sincerely hope that the lessons taught in the academic and moral field will stand you in good stead in the years that lie ahead.

To the members of the staff, who have oorsistently and without ex- ception, upheld the reputation of this school for cooperation and whole-hearted effort for the better- ment oi the pupils, I extend sin- cerc thanks. I trust that the well earned holiday will be thoroughly enjoyed.

I wish to thank the Charlotte- town School Bosrd for their con- tinued interest in the work of the schools; and refcr especially to a generous and timely increase in remuneration.

Before closing, I wish to refer to the matter cf Juvcnilc Delinquency. It must bc emphasized that out of this school of cs0 pupils a meta half dozen are mostly responsible for thcsa acts of delinquency which have been publicized somuch dur- ing the pm ycar. It ls also noted that these boys sl-c usually found in Grades IV to VI. and important it is to know that these some boys are, for the most part, models of good behaviour and dcportmcnt whila in school. it would appear than, that much of the responsi- billty for this unseemly behaviour lics within the home. It is a well- kncwn fact that parents who sup- ervise their children's studies, and their out of school recreation. start- ing in Grade I, have little cr no trouble to continue throughout the school years. However‘. we evidently have some ccrcllcticn from duty on tbs Dal-t of some parents. which leads to so-callcd juvcnlis dulln- qucncy. This problem is s gravc one and deserves the conscientious coa- slaersuon c! all concerned.
