Last winter, when with darkened brow, Big Fee, the great physician, Summoned his braves to a pow wow, According te tradition — Lo ! there arose a spectre grim, And stalked from ‘neath the big palm, ’Twas dread La Grippe, and entered in Our loved chief's happy wigwam.

At such a weird, ghastly sight, The warrior braves did sicken, Some fled for life, more died of fright, And one and all were stricken. Around was gloom and black despair, Ken Big Fee ceased his gag law, And in hot haste ran to prepare Tbe world renowned Sagwa.

’Tis said, the live-long night he spent In conning dusty pages,

Noting the nostrums as he went, Of semi-savage oges.

At length the magic draught he found, And with a faith unbounded

Called to the happy hunting grouad For help to quick compound it.

But all the learned shades decreed This would be heterodoxy;

However, we and and all agreed Him to assist by proxy.

Who in land jobbing sprained his back And missed the path to glory.

Next came the case of Litth B, He ought to get a birchen; To dare to squint at Chief Big Fee, The pompous little urchin. The young bucks seized him then and there And him condemned by gag ‘aw, Then tied hin. in a great big chair And made him drink the Sagwa.

Next Clapper B, then came the rub, The young bucks he was firing, And as of old proud Bee!zebub To honors was aspiring. To cure him of his rebel ways The Sagwa quick was shaken; And lo, he eaw a different “phase” Of judge and cabinet-making.

When Grey Quill’s wings began to flap, And in an evil hour

He eullealy refused his pap, And at his chief did glower.

The vial was brought, ‘twas ‘‘drink or die,” So ran the council's order;

To save his scalp he had to fly By night beyond the border.

Great is Big Fee! Great Sagwa’s fame ! The generous application

Will cure the halt, the blind and lame Of every tribe aud nation.
