The recent intelligence from India records particulars of a strange, and indeed unpre- cedented out on the Indian Gov roment and the British nacion. The Hon. Ashley Eden as secretary to the Government of Bengal, and that Government, wishing to effect better relations of trade with a tribe of semi savages io Bhootan, a province adja- eent to our own of Assam, sent this honor- abie gentleman to work the enchantment. No pains appear to have been previously taken to ascertain, im the slightest degree, how sach an offer would be received. Some tact and judgment were clearly indispensable for such a mission, and how far the Hon Mr. Kien possessed these requisites, the se- quel wili show.
