New Comet Paid A Visit

NEW YORK (AP)-A newly - discovered comet is blazing a fiery trail across the heavens. It has been visible to the naked eye in the nonheas part of the United States. .

Dr. Franklin Branley. assoc.-I. ILC Illa If the V) Planetarium. said Thursday the comet was discovered Aug. 2 by a Czech astronomer named Mrkos.

Braniey said the discove y had been reported to the Harvard Col- lege observatory and that the comet had been named Comet Mrkos-l957d.

This follows the practice of naming comets for their discov- erers. Mrkos has had other com-

ets named for him .The "I95":

differentiates the latest from oth- ersofthesamenameandthel) indicates it was the fourth comet discovered this year.

Branley said the comet, visible just before sundown. is located below the pointer; of the big dip- per. or in a northwestcrly direc- tion. He said the comet had gone around the sun and now is mov- ing away.

Ofl'l'AWA tCPi-The premiers of Nova Scotia and New Bruns- wick today completed discussions with Prime Minister Diefenbaker concerning federal aid for the de- velopment of coal-produced elec- trical power In the two provinces.

Premier Flemming of New Brunswick said after a final meeting with the prime minist- er and Resources Minister Hark- ness that proposals of the own premiers met with "a very sum- pathetic huring."

While he declined -to say what they talked about. it was under- stood a major request of the pro- vincial premiers was that coal used for power production should be given the type of federal fi- nancial aid-subventions-used In

The previous Liberal adminis- tration announced early this year it would build thermal power plants for the two provinces, and it has been indicated the new government-will hold to this of- fer. -
