Abbies Plan Juvenile Team

Officials of the Abcgweit Clu-bl announced last night. that they will hold the first juvenile hockey session of the season at the Forum tonight between eight and nine o'clock.

The session is to be held to start the formation of an Abbie juvenile team in anticipation of a City Juvenile League to be formed here this season under the span- sorship of the Department of Physical Fitness.

All players of juvenile age in the City are invited to attend to- nigh-t's session.

Beavers Fight Off St. Marys For 4-3 Victory

HALIFAX, Jan. 9 (CF) Saint John ifienvers, skating fa:-t all the way. defeated Halifax St. Mary's 4-3 tonight in a Maritime Senior Hockey League game. Beavers built up a 3-0 margin in the first ltW0 frames, foug-h-L off a third-period rally and whipped home the winning tally while Saints were playing a man short.

Saints' best period was the first but they failed to find the net behind Denny Brodeur. who play- ed his usual steady game. Trail- ing 3-0 when the third period opened. Halifax s-truck swiftly for two goals in 41 seconds -but then Beavers closed the door until 19:21 of the stanza when Hughie Campbell registered with Paul Plalz in the penalty box.

It wasn't enough. Twelve min- utes -previously. while McI..aug-h- lin was doing time. Blacluburn whipped a rising shot into the upper corner for the winner.
