The Situation in Ireland.
Sir Michael Hicks-Beach has returned to Dublin in response to a hasty summons to attend a conference of the justices and law officers of the crown. It is report- ed that it was decided at the conference to prosecute trustees holding tenants rents, and to proclaim al! meetings announced to be held for the purpose of enforcing the anti-rent programme. The coercive pulicy of the Government is approved by Lord Hartington.
The Dublin agent of the Central News telegraphs that the Irish Executive in con- sequence of the proceedings at the recent cabinet council, is preparing for a deter- mined struggle against the Irish National League. The proposed warfare,the telegram asserts, will include the proclamation of all league meetings and the arrest of prominent anti-rent agitators. The agent adds that he has reason to believe that the seizure of the Uuited Ireland has also been decided upon by the government.
