Princes County Exhibition. One of the best features in the Prinee County Exhibition was the large number of people present. There was almost as much truth as poetry in the remark ‘‘ There is| such a big crowd that the exhibition cannot be seen.’

| grounds. But there are some really fine animals. Mr. Isaac Schurman’s mare, with her foal,

by Ali Right, one of the right kind, and se are the mare and foal shown by Mr, David Walker, of New Annan. One of the two year old fillies we have seen this year—act excepting those shown at Halifax—is that of Mr. James Heffel, cf Travellers Rest. Sheis by Abdallah, out of a Vulcan mare. In size, and action, she is A 1, and she bids fair to be aclipper. Mr. W. H. Sehurman shows a large ard handsome filly by Wallace, dam by Robbie Burns. The two year old filly shown by Mr. Thomas Robbins, is All

this exhibition. Among the draft stock there are some very fine foals by Chal- lenger and Brown Stout.

The ** exnibits” of cattle are few, but good. Among them are Mr. George Camp-

ton’s magnificent first prize bull. Hon Mr. Richards shows a fine three year old short horn bull, weighing 1795 lbs., and Mr. Archibald McCallum shows another of the same age, which, though not in good condition, turnsthe scale at 1720lba. A

yearling bull, shown by Mr. J. H. Mc- Donald, of Bedeque, has many fine points, and weighs about 1000 lbs. Mr. Robert

Glover's milch cows are excellent of their kind, and so is his heifer. There ar

In reply, His Honor the Lieutenant | Governor delivered a short address, in | which he evinced the deep interest he takes | in the advancement of the industries upon | which depend the material prosperity of the Previnee, and declared the Exhibition open. Judge Hensley followed with a few felicitous remarks, one of which was a well timed comment upon the good pelicy of the Government in doing mote than formerly to advance the interests of agriculture. The Chief Justice, in a short speech, adverted to tae evidences of industry and prosperity in the Drill Shed and on the grounds.

IN THE DRILL SHED,

Here, the ladies, certainly, carry off the honers. Indeed if it were not for the pro- ducts of their art and industry, there would be little in the Drill Shed worth looking at. Miss Pope’s oil painting is much above that of the paintings usually seen at exhibitions; and the point lace shown by Miss Sims, of Kensington, is very fine. Of mats, quilts,

bead and needle work there is a very creditable display; while over forty ladies compete for the prizes for butter. Their zeal in the butter

department suggests the means by which they inaintain sway over husbands, etc ; and,{seriously, it should be encouraged and rewarded, as His Honor the Lieutenant Governor suggested, by providing them with the latest and best dairy appliances, for the manufacture of their favorite pro- duct. Just now when Island butter does not stand high in the markets of ihe world, and when the larye cities of the continent are raising a piteous wail because of the bad butter with which they are supplied, new or refurnished dairies, with churns, etc., of the most improyed kinds, seem to be ‘in order.”
