Medical Intolerance.

The last number of Puck contains a car- toon which represents a dying child lying in its cradle, a homospathic doctor on one side of the little sufferer, while on the other ‘Dr. All O'’Path” is turning away. The mother stretches out her hands in mute agony to the allopath, only to hear him say, ‘“‘very sorry, madam, if your child must die, but you ought not to have called in a homecepath first.” It seems that this is not acaricature, but a truthful represeuta- tion of what actually occurred uot long since in Oconomowoc, Wis. A dying child needed a surgical operation which, in all probability, would have saved its life. The only surgeon in the place was an allopath. He was called in, but finding the family physician, who was a homcepath, in attend- ance, declined to operate at the critical moment, He only acted on the code which the American Medical Association at its recent meeting in Cleveland refused to change. Itissaid that this code is only the formal declaration of allopaths against fellowship with practitioners of other schools, but that it does no practical harm. Here isa case that refutes the plea most conclusively.
