towards an end to the battle over control of Acadia Univer- sity.

Donald C: MacNeil, a Presby- -terian who is chairman ‘of the Nova Scotia legislature's _pri- vate and local bills committee, negotiated the compromise, which could end a bitter dispute over membership of the univer- sity’s board of governors.

Although Mr. MacNeil’s sug- gestion hasn’t been given final approval, all parties involved in the dispute said Tuesday they are prepared to accept it.

The disagreement broke into the .open last summer after the Atlantic Baptist Convention passed a resolution to bar non- Christians from the faculty of the Wolfville, N.S., university The” convention” appoints’ 16--of the 30 members of the board of governors and must approve the remaining 14 nominations made by the university's asso- ciated alumni. : RESORT.
