‘ On the evening o! June ll, in the Assembly Hall o! St. Mary's ZConvent, Souris, took place an event} styled by all present as 'most impressive and enjoyable- ‘the First Graduation Exercises o! YGrade XI students. Geniality rad- iated irom the gracious chairman, Dr. A. A. MacDonald who present- ed the many premiums so gener- ‘ously donated by the patrons ot {education and friends oi youth. ‘The Diplomas and Certificates ;were presented by the esteemed ‘Guest Speaker, Mr. L. W. Shaw, .Deputy Minister and Director o! {Education for the province, whose eloquence, wisdom and inspiration in his address to the graduates" captivated and uplifted all minds. The occasion was honored also by ‘lthe presence o! Reverend D. P. lCroken, D.D., pastor o! St. Mary's iChurch, Soruris; Reverend J. L. lMoKenna, Reverend George Mac- Donald, Mr. H. J. l-iynes Supervis- 'or ot Schools, besides members oi ithe School Board, Presidents o! lthe various local Societies. i The program of music, verse ‘ and song, so iauitlessly carried out ‘by the High School pupils, was delightfully supplemented by the contribution ot a charming group o! Tiny Tots, in black cap and. ‘gown, who entertained the grad- : uates, and apparently the audience itoo, by their version of a Grad- uation complete irom Greeting to Presentation o! Diplomas and lvaledictory. Six young ladies, rad- iant in floor length white gowns with pink carnations at the shoulder and in the hair, and [our trim young men wearing a white warnation, presented a striking picture o! youthful charm against ;a stage sett ng of green curtains wit-h baskets oi narcissus, tulips and other blossoms.
