Emperor both expressed the hope that the German army and the British navy would ba important factors in preserving peace. The Prince of Wales will visit Emperor William in September, when the two will go on a hunting expedition.

Tignish Notes.

A sad accident occurred here on Monday afternoon, the Sth inst. A man named John Mansfield accidentally fell backwards off his truck wagon and fatally injured his spine, Drs. McLellan and Dyer were im- mediately called in attendance ; yet, not- withstanding the superior medical skill which was at hand, nothing could be done. He rallied until Tuesday afternoon, the 6th inst., when death put an end to his sufferings.

The farmers who have been busy for some time, gathering in their hay,'which is much above the average, have now finished. Owing to the unusually early spring and ex- cellent growth of the season, the farmers will have no time between haying and har- vesting. The harvest promises to be a good one.

Mr. J. C. Carruthers, pharmacist and chemist, has opened a drug store here with very good prospects. It is located in the store leased by 8. T. Perry, Esq., opposite
