In the trials to which on subjected them, we endeavored, without effect, to produce explosions of the vapor of the ﬂuid mixed with air, and to burst them by the pressure crib. vapor alone. The principle adopted by Mr. Nowell is that of the well known Davy Lump. He has so coinhined the parts, that we are stitisﬁed that all figk of explosive action is removed.
