Tue Marine Department at Ottawa has forwarded to Judge Savary, of Digby, N. S., a valaable silver watch, to be presented for Bernard Doolan’s second sct fof bravery. This case is the rescue of a boy named Ran- som, who fell overboard from a ferryboat in Annapolis river last December. Doolan gal- lantly jamped overboard and saved the boy at the risk of his own life.

The St. Colambia meeting in Sir Adolphe Caron’s constituency was a grand success for the Ministers who attended. There has not been so enthusiastic a reception given to Sir Adolphe for many a year. The managers of the National party hired ten or a dozen roughs, some of whom had only been out of the penitentiary a few weeks, and they were sent to try and break up the meeting. But the meeting was eo overwhelmingly for the Government, that after euduring the interruption on several occasions, they turned upon the gang and summarily ejected them.

High Tide.

Sr. Jonn, Feb. 21. St. John and vicinity was Qvisited by a tide generally said to be higher than that at the time of the famous Saxby gale, on thewouth and north wharves. The water rose to a depth of fully six inches over the western end, and soon the water came washing in the stores and warehouses. The marshes along the line of railway at Memramcook, Dorchester and Sackville were overflowed with the highest tide known since the great Saxby tide of fifteen years ago. The damage by loss of hay stacked on the marshes will be large.

Frye and the Fisheries. Wasuinoton, D. O., Feb. 21. To-morrow being Washinzton’s birth- day, Senator Frye’s address against further fishery negotiations will not -be delivered, As the Education Bill, Bankruptcy Bill and the Washington Territory Bi!l will be strongly urged for precedence during the week, Frye will find some difficulty in get- ting the floor for his speech. He is, how- ever, very anxious that the Senate should officially condemn further negotiations with Great Britain respecting the fisheries.
