EARLIES’!‘ IN YEARS

The earliest ice racing meet in this province since 1937 will be staged on New Year’s Day at the Hon. Dougald MacKinnon Speedway on North River Cause- way. The meat will start at 2.30 p.m.

Mild weather, in recent years. has played havoc with plans for ice meets every winter, but this early start is regarded as a sign of a splenlid season on the ice. The early opening date In 1987, it will be recalled, had the ﬁrst meet on Covehead Bay.

This season's ice racing pro gnam will be handled by the Victoria Driving Club. President D.K. MacLeod reported yester- day that everything will be in readiness for New Year’s Day. The racing ntrltp has been put in good shape, and a large park— ing area nas been cleaned away for automobiles.
