Prentice and Dean, government supporters, entitled to sit in the Legirle- ture for this session and prohibiting the Supreme Court from proceeding with the petitions against them until after the close of the session.

In the case of Mr. Prentice, the point wis that he was nota qualified candidate no’ being on the voters’ list. To prove this the collector of votes had been sub- poenaed to attend. This official did not obey the summona, because the Attorney- General did not give him the permiesion asked for to leave his offise, and the court, } therefore, issued a new order directing him to be present on the following day when it was expested Mr. Prentice would be declared disqualified aad the seat awards ed to Mr. Stoddart, the Iste member.
