The British Minister called on Secretary Bayard this morning to express his pro- found regret that his letter to the alleged Murchison had been made public. He was able to wake no eXp'anation of it, except that it was written plivately and in his pri- vate Capacity, in response to w oat he be- lieved to be a genuine appeal for advice which he thought he had a tight to give. So far the administration has taken no formal Step toward ask ng his recall. It is disposed to ignore the uicideut as one care- fully arranged for temporary political effect by the Republican managers, which will, however, deceive no one else beside the British minister. It may, however, end in the latter's recall. He is in a great state
