The fact that Christ himself accepted baptiln at John's hands, and on that occasion re- ceived his call to Meqllhshilp. makes the mission of John of abid- mg interest to Christians.

These thoughts are brought be- fore Christian minds on the third Sunday in Advent. because they provide an analogy to something 91 permanent importance in the life of the Church. Just In the Old Testament looked forward to the coming of a deliverer, so does the New Testament look forward to the coming of Christ in glory, and to his recognition by all men as King Of king!-

But. a task of preparation is as necessary before the last coming as it was boiore the first: and it ,5 this preparatory work which was in the minds of Christians 1551 week-end. After calling to mind Joh-n the Baptislis work, the Collect continues: "Grant that the ministers and stewards of ,thy .-nysicries may likewise so prepare and make ready thy way...that vw may he found an acceptable people in thy light.” K

In many a Church and Oratory. countless men will strive in some way to unite their private and personal sufferings with those of the saviour in His all-embracing act of religion.

I well remember a certain young woman who identi- fied religious experience with aesthetic feeling. She used to say that many a Sunday she stayed in her room playing good records on her gramaphone because this pro- vided her with the same experi- ence which was here in Church only on her moat pious days.

A. Y. P. A. LOCAL COUNCIL HOLDS MEETING. - A meeting of the local council of the A.Y.P.A was held in st. Paul's Parish Hall on March 16th, at 8.30 P. M. with the President Art MacLeen in charge. The meeting opened with prayers by Rev. A. E. Piercey. The most important point, of the meet- ing was the Drama Report given by Miss Florine Evans. It was de- cided atthe meeting that the semi- finals would be held the last week of April and the finals on May 2.
