The annual meeting of the P. E. Leland District met at Summerside on Tuesday the 10th, with the Rev. H. P. Cowperth- waite, A M., President of the Conference,in the chair. There were present, Revs. C. W. Hanilton, Finaucial Secretary, J, teid, W. W. Brewer, D. D. Moore, A. M. B. D., Wm. H. Spargo, Wm. J. Kirby, George Steele, R. Opie, John Goldsmith, S. James, Wm. Harrison, E. C. Turner, Robert W. J. Clements, Douglas H. Lodge, Charles Slackiord, Edward George W. Fisher, and F. W. Moore. Leave of ab- sence was granted to Revs. Fred. J. Small- wood and Jeremiah VY. Jost on account of sivkness. After singing, scripture was read by the Secretary and prayers o‘Tered by Revs. J. Read and KE. Slacktord. A third ballot resulted in electing Rev. George Steele as secretary, with Rev. W. J. Kirby as assistant. There had been no deaths among the ministers during the year, and none applied for asupernumerary relation, Characters of ail were passed without challenge. Rev. George Havrison was not able to be present on account of ill heaith. Rev. F. W. Moore, who volun- tarily retired from the Conference several years ago on account of ill health, applied for readmission witheut claim on any con- nexionai funds. District unanimously recommended Conference to receive him end place his name on the minutes, giving him a supernumerary relation. The only probationer for the ministry wasthe Rov. Alexander D. McLeod, who had passcd his eXaminations, and was recommended io be continued on probation. There were no candidates for the ministry, a very urusual occurrence for the P. E. Island District.

The afternoon session opened with sing- ing and prayer by Riv. C.C. Turner. A most interesting and varied conversation, in which nearly all took part, respecting clags meetings, social services, the Lord’s Supper and other kindred subjects was very protitable.

On Wednesday, the Session opened at 9 30. After singing, prayer was oifered by Mr. Golding Howard and Rev. W. J. Kirby. The following lay. representatives were present : Messrs, Warren J, Miller, Lemuel E. Prowse, of Charlottetown; Gold- ing Howard, Cornwali ; Frederick Fissery, Union Road ; John Way, Hunter River ; Geo. Mason, Clifton; John Craig, Bedeque; Samuel E. Reid, Tryon; Geo. Johnson, Margate; Hon. W. G. Strong, Summerside; John Smith, Bideford; Geo. W. Clarke, Alberton, and Theodore Wright, Lot 7. The following ministers were recommended to receive grants from the Missionery Com- mittee on account of medical aid and atten- dance required because of severe afiliction during the year in their families: Rev. J. Goldsmith, Douglas H Lodge, Robert W. J. Clements. Revs. E. Bell and K. Slack- ford were also recommended to receive amounts believed to be due them. During the year a new Mission Hall has beea buiit in Charlottetown, and new church at Hunt- er River, on the Winsloe Circuit; Cape Traverse, on the Tryon Circuit, end at Keusington, on the Margate Cireuis. A Paronage has been bought for the Mount Stewart Mission. Organs had been placed in the Hunter River and Princetown Road Churches.

The following appointments were made to Conference Committees : Rev. J. Reid, to-the Stationing; Hon. W. G. Strong, to the Missionary; Rev. W. J. Kirby, and Chas W. Strong, to the Sabbath School;
