Fourth Service Of Series Held

The fourth in the series of Holy Week services was held on Thurs- day nlght at Trinity United Church. Montague. with a largo congregation present.

Rev. J. M. Fraser presided and was assisted by Rev. D. A. Camp- bell who read the Scripture lesson from the gospd of St- John. chap- ter l2, and also led in prayer.

Rev. A. M. Rogerson of Moo- tague Baptist Church was guest speaker. Ills text was St. John, Chapter 12, verse 82 and the sub- Ject of his inspiring message was "The Upllfted Cross." The choir sang the anthem "Bow Down Thine liar" and a duet ”Falreet Lord Jesus". was sung by Mrs. Arnold Wlghtmaa and Mrs. Doug- las Coffin.

Hymns sung were "When I Sur- vey The Wondrous Cross". "Be- neathe The Cross Of Jesus", "Never Further Thy Cross". The service closed with the Beas- dlction by Rev. J. M. Fraser.

Mrs. Leroy White, Montague. entertained recently in honour of miss Freda Apt. R.N.. who is leaving shortly for Grand Marian island. where she has accepted a position as matron of the Grand Manan Hospital at North Head.

Two tables of scrabble were in play and prizes were won by Mrs. Byron Stewart. Mrs. Cyrus Shaw and Mrs. R.G. MacDonald. A beautiful compact was presented to Miss Apt as a farewell gift from the group. The address was given by Mrs. White and presenta- tion was made by Mrs. J.D. Mac- Leod. Miss Apt very graciously expressed her surprise and appre- clation.

At the supper hour. Mrs. lilac- Donald presided over the teacups.

Jostling die beauties will be other beauties - there is always. too. in Hyde Park at Easter a cart-horse parade, when the Cockneys brush their i faithful servants. polish their har- p ness. and compete for the "Most Elegant" carthorse title. But-alas- ' each year the carthorses get few- er ln number.

And about hall an hour outside town. at a little village called Tin- sely Green. the marbles champion- ship of the world will be again fought over.

No children's event is this. Down at Tinsely Green the men form themselves into teams and chal- lenge all comers. It is all highly or- ganized.

So far only one challenge has come from overseas. A couple of years back a husload of U.K. bas- ed American sailors came down determined to wrest the champion- ship from this sleepy part of Eng- land. But they were gradually, yet emphatically, played into the ground.

Mr. I” i ' was introduced by Heath MacQuarrie who expressed pleasure at having the young M.P. greeted in his home community. Mr. Dinsdale spoke briefly and was then pre- sented personally to all present. He voiced his pleasure at having the opportunity of visiting Prince Edward Island in response to the invitation of his friend Heath Mac- Quarrle and declared his intention of returning for a longer visit in the not too distant future.
