So that was that! As she wond- ered whether she should tell Fran- cis there came, suddenly. the sound of motor. she flung open the front door to iind Garry stumbling through the storm with Anne in his arms.

"She's hall Irozen." he said. "Who ever heard ct such weather at this time 0i year? My car stalled and I had to wait until someone came along."

Vicky interposed. "Who iound u?"

"Elinor and David. Coming back irom the club."

"Elinor?" Vicky's voice was start- led. "where is she?"

"Out there in the car."

But. Elinor was not in the car. She was standing in the hall. "Where's David?" Garry asked. "I-le's gone." she came iorwnrd. more like a wrnlth than a real pres- ence. "It's an awful night." she said in a ionless voice. "Has Fran- cis come in?"

"Yes." It was Vicky who am- swered.

"well, I'm going up." Elinor said presently, "You'd better get Anne to bed. Vicky, and send Garry home."

"That sound as if I were in dis- grace." Garry protested. "and no- thing is really my iault. Blame it all on Anne. I asked her to marry me, and she wouldn't so I ran the car oi: the road and asked her all over again."

Lately. when excessive sweating occurs in certain parts of the body. the surgical operation 0! cutting the nerves supplying that part has been effective but. unfortunately. there then often occurs increased perspiration in other parts.

What may prove to be a simple method of controlling perspiration without the need or surgical oper- ation is reported in the Journal oi the American Medical Association. Drs. Keith G. Grimson, C. Keith Lyons, Wm. T. Watkins and J. Lamar Galloway, Duke University. Durham. N. C.. state that among 144 patients under treatment ior peptic ulcer or other stomach and intestinal disorders. using the druil banthlne. several iound dryness of their hands. They then tried the drug on a. young woman of 25. who could not hold a telephone or handle a stenographer's pad with- out. wetting them. the perspiration running down irom the armpits and dripping irom her hands. when examined. her hands were clammy, cold. and glistening with moisture. Forty-ilve minutes after taking two 50 mg. banthine bro- mide tableis, hands, ieei and arm- pits became warm and dry. There- after she was:-able to prevent ex- cessive sweating by use of 2 tab- lets every 4 hours.

As this was only one case. these physicians then treated 3 more women; one aged E who as long as she could remember had always had excessive sweating oi hands and ieet; another. age 30. whose excessive sweating was first noted in her early teens, and another. age '27. who had had excessive sweating for nine years. All three obtained the some excellent results as the first patient.
