Seven coeds died as fire raced through the fourth floor women's dormitory
at Providence College yesterday, two of whom
jumped to their deaths seconds before fire— fighters could have rescued them with ladders.

VANIEII COLLEGE IEACHERs STRIKE
MCNI‘REAL (CUP) - A strike by teachers at Vanier College scheduled to begin Dec. 5 was called off at the last minute when the school adminis— tration conceded to the demands of the Vanier College teachers association.
The administration agreed to reinstate a computer science teacher who had been arbitrarily fired and to withdraw letters reprimanding four other teachers involved in the firing dispute.
Henry Stein, who had taught at the college for four months, without a contract and was dismissed
without notice in mid—term,
was granted full teaching status and a $4,000 cash settlement. He will, however, not be rehired to teach at the college in

According to teachers association vice—president John Philpott, the settle- ment was "a total victory for the teachers".
The administration gave in to the teachers association demands following a board of governors meeting where
more than 50 students, staff and faculty members supported the teachers' demands. At the meeting, the teachersaffirmed

On October 18, 1977 at 11:45 a.m. the first meal came out of the Dalton Hall Dining Room. It was the end result of hours of work put together by the Home Economics 411 Quantity Food Production course.
'Ihese meals are for all students, faculty and staff of the university as well as other members of the community but you all cannot come every Tuesday. The dining room seats 43 people for regular meals and fever for buffets. To-be a guest in our dining room [all one must do is pick up a ticket after the menu is posted on the Wednesday of the week before the meal. Tickets are available in Room 107- Dalton Hall in the afternoons only,
