A young college student had a narrow escape from drowning on Sunday afternoon at Cavendish Beach. Queen Charlotte High School. This was the unanimous decision reach- ed at a recent meeting of the Charlottetown School Board in choosing a name for the new building now well advanced in construction. The selection was made as perpetuating a name so closely associated with the City.

A Charlottetown soldier, LICpl. John 13. Young, 25. serv- ing ln Korea with 4th Canadian Guards Regiment, was among a group of 90 soldiers from various Commonwealth Armies to graduate from a six week Junior NCO course recently at the 25th Canadian In- fantry Brigadc's NCO School in Korea.

The Rocky Point ferry "Fair- vlew" was becalmed in mldstream at 12.40 yesterday afternoon when she was making the return trip from Rocky Point. A broken over- speed governor was the cause of the engine stoppage. It is ex- pected that a delay of a few days will be experienced before the de- fective part can be replaced since it will have to come from either Saint John or the United States.

In the meantime the Montague II which has been tied up since it relieved the Fall-view last spring will go into service this forenoon.

A large group of cadets from Prince Street. West Kent, Queen square and St. Dunstan's Uni- versity will attend several weeks training at Camp Debert beginning next week. This will be the first time that the Camp has been used for cadet purposes.

Prince Edward Island has been singularly free from poliomyelltis this year according to Department of Health officials. Dr. 0. 1-1. Curtis. DOPUW Minister of Health. stated last night there was no evidence of an epidemic and apparently no danger of one. He said there have been only five reported cases all year.
