The $800,000 was plac d to the credit of this Province, in order thar the L-cal Gevernment might be placed in the same position as the other Proviaces in regard to Rovenues from Public Lands. Ontario received over $800,000 last year from its iands. Quebec received over $600,0.0 from the same sources, all of which wa» applied to - nt purposes. New Brune-

wick and Nova Scotia have also received eunsiderable sums from lands which they have used in the same way. The Public

Lands in the other Provinces any more than those of Prince Edward Island wii! not last forever; bat novedy is silly enough te» demand that land money should be fanded, and direct taxation resorted to to supply the. deficiency.

If the land money were funded it wou'd probably yield an interest of four per cent., and there might be seme risk of loss. At the same time it would cost fifteen per cent. this year, to collect under the Assess ment Act money to putin the place of what was funded. Now the Legis lative Council replied to the Speech on Wednesday aftersoon; and the reports were ali submitted on Thursday afternoon. S. there was not much delay after all; and it is not probable that the public interests suff-red, though it must be confessed that the Legislative @vuncil were rather dila- tory. If there were bo Legislative Council the Public Accounts would have been before the Legislature and the people aoveral days ago.

Sir John McDonald on the 13th inst., laid on the table a return of some 1,200 pages of manuscript giving the total nuim- ber of applications for leases ef pasturage jands in the Northwest territories and the total vumber of acres applied for with the number granted ard agreed to, etc. There are in all 78 applications for 4,215,371 acres ; of these 24 applications for 1,619,- 571 acres were received previous to the 25th Muay, 1881; 12 applications for 560 800 acres were received under the regula tions of 25:h May, 1881, and forty two applications for 2,035, 000 acres were received under the regulations of the 23.d December, 1881. Of the entire num- ber of applications only eight have been granted, and these were uvder the regula tions previous to 25th May, 188i. The applications granted are all for twenty-one years, at the rate of ¢10 per 1,000 acres, as follows: —

‘flamamation of the eyes. In the summer and fall of 1878, I was sorely afflicted with inflaumation of the right eye, which finally became very painful. At that time, Mr, C. O. Perrine, of Chicago, paid me a visit, and, noticing imy trouble, told me to nse honey tocure niy eye. His method was to put a few drops of pure liquid honey in-

toa teaspoonful of lukewarm water, and stir with the Ginger till thoroughly dissolved, then lie down and drop three or four drops ofthe honey and water into the eye, lying stiila few minutes, then wiping the face aod eyelids, but not washing out the eye. Repeat this four or five times a day, and the last thing before going to bed. I fol- lowed directions faithiuily, and gout imme diate relief; aud in afew days the inflam- mation was entirely gone. In the course ota week or soit becaine inflamed again, and i fed (?) it honey till relieved. This was re; eated several times before the eye was finally cured. Lately I have been troubled again in a different way, the eye becoming oimy and blurring the sight. One appheation of the honey cured it. Whe- ther it will cure other diseases «f the eye, chronic sore eyes, ete., I know not, but to those afflicted, it willdo no harm to try it,
