Exectric Liguts.—Electric lighting has been engrossing the attention of New Glas gow’s civic authorities for some time past. The difficulty seems to be to put ten lights in fifteen different localities in order to please everybody. In Charlottetown several new lights are badly needed, but we do not seem to be in any great danger of getting them.

Hor Beer axp Suypries.—The steamer M. A. Starr, which arrived in Charlottetown from Halifax last Sunday, brought 25 dogs- heads and 20 half hogsheads of hop beer, and 75 boxes “sundries,” which simply means ‘*case whiskey.” The peop'e who voted to sustain the Scott Act do net intend to go without their hot stuff this winter.— Moncton

The transfer boat Maryland, of the Pean Railroad, one of the largest side-wheel steamers afloat, was burned to the water's edge to-night, with two Pullman cars, two ordinary coaches and an accommodation ear.
