The Union Insurance Co., of Phila- delphi, at their annual meeting on the 15:h inst.,reduced their capital to $200,- 000. This action is necesitated by losses through the fraudulent transactions of one of its agents, Lorenzo Dimick, of Crosby, N. Y., and Dimick, of Butfalo, N. Y., who had defrauded the Company of upwards of $200,000. Dimick hear- ing of disasters to vesselson the lakes made entries of insurance to the Com- pany for large amounts, making the en- try antedate the news of the disaster. It is believed a large per centage of the money paid on fraudulent policies will be recovered trom Dimick.
