By telegrams to I, C. Owen we learn that the-barque ‘Wille McLaren,’ McLaren mas- ter, arrived at Sandy Hook, on 22nd _inst., from Newry; and that the barque “William Owen,’ McPherson master, arrived at Fort Munroe, on the 22nd inst; from Honfleur.

‘ur Supreme Court meets in this city to- morrow. About ninety civil and five criminal cases are on the docket. The criminal cases are: three larcenies, one assault and one at- tempt at rape. The Court will meet in King’s County on the 14th of July next.

Av the Stipendiary Magistrate’s Court, this forenoon, Thomas Enman—a_ boy apparently sixteen years of age—was fined $6, or one month’s imprisonment, for being drunk and using profane language on the streets; Michael teilly (sailor), drunk and incapable, was fined $2 and costs, or 8 days.

Tux Bishop of Nova Scotia is expected to arrive here on Friday next, and on the same evening will preside at the review of St. Peter’s Schools. On Saturday evening he will administer Confirmation in St. Peter’s Church; and on Sunday morning will consecrate the Church, which lately has been completed. A large number of clergy from the other Prov- inces is expected to be in attendance.

Tue Progress well says:—‘‘It is time this talk about ‘Catholic vote” and ‘Protestant vote’ was dropped. Catholics appreciate good Government and dislike corruption in official quarters, quite as much as any other class of electors, and it is generally, if not always, found that as the great majority of Protestants vote—where there is no religious issue—so also vote the Catholics. All are guided by the same motive, viz.—to secure honesty and efficiency in the management of public affairs.”

ATKINSON’s ante mortem deposition was taken at Sackville on Friday, but he was much easier on Saturday morning, and there are prospects that his life may be saved. He snffers comparatively little pain and is able to converse freely. He thinks that the shot was intended for him and that the assailant was pot mistaken in the man. He estimates the distance at twenty-five or thirty yards. The authorities have no further information re- garding the assailant. ‘The general opinion is that if caught he should be hanged, whether Atkinson lives or dies.
