Very Sap News.—A Truro despatch of the 24th says: Three children of a family named Hall succumbed since Friday to m+ lignant measles, followed by pneumunia. The first, a baby, died on Friday, and yesterday two girls, aged 20 and 15 respectively, became victims of pneumonia. Tur Gost SURRENDERED.—A despatch of the 20th gives particulars of the doings of an apptrition at Midgic, Westmorland Co. N. B. A locality there hae been reputed haunted and people have been afraid to go near it. At last one ¢ourageous young mat concluded that he would try to find out the nature of the heing that had caused so much fear, and so, armed with a gun, he approached the vaunted spot when the ghost appeared as us- wal. He took sim and tired, with no more serious reault than causing the ghost to cry out: “Don’t | don’t shoot, for lam . And sure enough, after laying aside his dis- guise, there stood not @ spirit, but a we ll known dealer in spirits of another kind. The scare was at an end.

The Extradition Treaty.

| The Convention supplementary to the larticle of the Extradition Treaty of 1842 between Great Britain and the United States was concluded at Washington on July 12th, 1889. Ratifications were ex- changed at London on March Ilth, 1890, and proclaimed to-day.
