HEATHER BOYCE The position of President provides a real challenge in many respects.The most significant challenge,as ’ I see it,is to achieve credibility for the Student Union.

The Union's lack of

credibility is the basic

"problem from which all others stem. How can any Organization function eff- iciently and effectively if those people it exists ex- clusively to benefit, do not have faith in it or respect for it?

I am running for pres- ident because having had an active (although un- official) involvement with the Uniou during my fresh- man and sophmore years, I see it as an organization with tremendous unrealized potential and I would like to be in a position where' I could help remedy this sitUation.

body which weilds clout in campus and community ' affairs. It is quite poss- ible for ouf Union to exert influence and become an effective operating body and that in eSsence, would be my goal.

That is obviously an intangible but realization of this basic goal would open innumerable doors to the Union.

As far as qualifications for the job, I'm not able to claim any previous pre- requisites of a formal nature.

As I said above I was. actively, if not officially involved at the eXecutive level for my first two years. I have always felt a sur- pressed enthusiasm for the possibilities abd possible improvements for the Student Union. It is this enthusiasm that I feel will be my major asset.,
