Well, it's that time of the week again! What will

I write this iveek's Editorial on! There are so many topics which Iwould like to discuss; Stu- dent Elections, AFS Referendum, Residence Life, Fall Fest, Security Dept., Student Loans...I guess most of these canivait for another'week except for Student Elections. The Suntvill have gone to print before the results of the freshman Election and the AFS Referendum are know n, by; the 5 open positions on Councilivere decided lastvreek. These positions were decided and an election WASN'T needed because all positions were filledby Acclamation.

Positions filledwere: Senate - by Tara O'Blenis and Brendon Bolger; Arts Representatives by Claire Currie and Jennifer rlilreddle and Board of vaernors Representative by Natti Kolga. Nor, don't get me wrong, I think its great that these people decided to runbut I think its terrible that they ran un- opposed. A position as important as Student coun- cil SHOULD NOTbe filled by Acclamation.

Out of the 1500 Students UPEI, there must be at least 30 or 140 who were on their High School Stu— dent Councils. What I don't understand is why people feel that Student Union Council at a Univer- sity is any different than high school politics. I've been a counciller andbelieve me, its no dif— ferent!

I shouldn't even have to consider the number of students who were on High School “Councils. One doesn't need experience to be interested in, or concerned about what YOUR Student Union is doing.

If you are interested, even slightly, why not drop dam to the Student Union offices, go to a Council meeting, or come up to the Sun office and
