Seaman Lost.—Lodie Shea,aged twenty- two years, son of Mr Jamen Shea, Tigni+h, was lost overboard trom the ship Warrior, on the passage from Liverpool to Helifax, during @ burricane on the 6th ult. Everys thing possible wasdove to save him, but be was not seen afer he went over. Though young, the deceased had been a seaman for some years past, and bad made several voyages to foreign countries. The last time he wrote his parente he wa®in Russia, and akout to sail for England, and he said that he hoped to be home towards the end of October.—Agriculturist.

Bricks or Gorv.—Two very large bricks of gold were deposited at the office of George A. Pyke Wednesday afternoon. They came from Isaac’s Harbor and re- presented the outputs of the Hurricane Point and Richardson mines. The con- tribution from the former weighed 165 ounces and the latter 185 ounces. The value of the two bricks was $7000. There two properties are without doubt among the leaders in the province and their aver- age output is large. Reiurns from the New Edgerton mine, 15 Mile Stream, show 51 ounces of gold from 509tons of quartz —Halifax Herald.

Stead and the Ozar.

Lonpon, Nov.11.—W. T. Stead, writs ing tothe Daily News from Sebastopol, afcer having had an interview with the Czar at Livadia, reiterates his conviction of the earnestness ard sincerity of the Czar’s purpose in proposing disarmament. Mr. Stead says it is impossible to repeat the conversation ; but, he adde:—

the court, who, meeting me as I was leaving, asked me. Well, what is your opinion?’
