The snow storm which started Saturday morning and continued nvcr the week-and brought all traffic to A standstill in the West Prince area. Some roads were passable on Saturday but with very heavy going and large banks of snow piling up in all sections.

Heavy Drifting On Roads In S'side Area

Government snow plows were kept busy over the week-end in their attempts to keep the main highway open between summer- side and Alberton and east of Summcrside to Borden and char- lottetown. An official said last night that the Borden-Summeraide highway was passable and also the road as far east as Summer- field. However. due to constant cross drift the highway filled in to some extent. after each trip of the plows and ears were report- ed stuck at various points along the highway.

Island Motor Transport officials said last night at Summerside that all their buses were cancel- led at 5:30 PM. yesterday. ex- cept the airport bus. Bus drivers report heavy ground drift . on most roads. Two buses. one at Tryon and.anothcr at Cains Hill near 0'Leary Corner were stuck in anowbanks throughout Satur- day night. The one at '15-yon was still imprisoned in snow late last night. Bus drivers report the road between Alberton and Leary closed by snow at Bloom- field Corner and that between Richmond and Wellinfllbn N10” is a solid drift throughout which fills in as soon as a plow passes through. Very few ears have ventured out against the contin- uous drift and two snow plows. one at Tyne Valley and one at Elmsdale were stuck in ditches over night on Saturday but have since been freed.
