Dr. Conr y was the cor aer, and the jury was made up of Charles Hermans (foreman), Riephen T. Whitty, William Dillon, Michal Hennessy, Charles R. Harper, Daniel Me- Laren and Daniel Macdonsid., Af er hear- ing the evidence of Mr. Murphy, Mrs. Avnie Johason (the midwife), and Drs. Kel’y and Taylor, the jury returned a ver- dict of death from hemorrhage.

My ietter contained a cor.cise and a full explanation of facts, which ht nor anyone else dare deny. He admits that the person appointed was asked by a member of the choir several times. ] know that, and the same individual undertook to ask the choir their opinion and he got snubbed for his pains; and allow me to say also that through his interference one or two good -singers left the choir

As to the last clause in his letter, no one but a musical ignoramus would doubt my ability to instruct any Charlottetown choir,

The Firs’ National Bank of Little Rock, Arkansas, has suspended. Liabilities un- derstood to be over half a million.

The great ice gorge at Cincinatti broke yesterday and 100 barges were carried down stream with the rushing water and ice. Fully $100,000 worth of lumber was lost.

Sir George Baden-Powell has despatched to Washington Great Britain's reply in the Behring Sea case. Sir Charles Russel, Sir Richard Webster and John Rigby assisted in the preparation of the reply.

Panama advices state that the Roths- childs and Biron Hirech are at the head of anew canal syndicate, and will each sub scribe $25,000,000 franca. The operation of the syndicate is conditional upon an ex- tensicn of the canal concession.

Chief Justice O Brien has decided that the Irish Government acted illegally in re- fusing police protection to builffs engeged in executing writs at night. Chief Secre- tary Morley is liable to prosecution for is- suing an order withholding such protection,

The Liberal-Unionists have decided to drop the amendment directed against home rule and to concentrate their forces in sup- port of the amendment inspired by Joseph Chamberlain to the effect that legislation for agriculture! laborers is much more urgent than legislation for home rule.

It is explained that Claus Speckels is at at the bottom of the ‘“‘movement” in the Sandwich Islands. He was given, some years ago, so it, is said, extensive sugar plantatio:s on the islands. At present, with Cuban and Brazilian sugars coming free into the States, these plantations do not pay as well as formerly. But if he could get the islands annexed, he would then be entitled to the two cents per pound bounty given to growers of sugars in the United States. lo order to get this, he has determined to overthrow the government of the country.

In his cable letter to the tribune, Mr: Edmund Yates says: According to pres- ent arrangement, the Queen will leave Windsor Castle for Italy on Wednesday, March 22, as Her Mejesty and Princess Beatrice are particularly anxious to be in Florence on Palm Sunday. The Queen will travel from Windsor to the Portsmouth doékyard on the 22ad, intending to dine and sleep on board the reyal yacht Victoria and Albert,which will be moored inthe har- bor for the night. On Thuredsy, March 23, the Queen will cross the channel to Chere bovrg, whence she will proceed by special train direct to Flerence, travelling by the Mount Cenis route to Tarin, and thence by way of Genoa, Spezia and Pisa. The Queen will arrive in Florence on the evening of Saturday, March 25, and inteads to reeide for nearly four weeks at Villa Palmieri, near Fieswle All being well, the Queen is to go to Venice four deys, when she leaves. Florence and wil retacun home through Germany, it being her present intention to stay for a few days at Daymstadt with the Grand Duke of Hesse, in which case the Empress Frederick and o her members of the Royal Family will meet her there.
