UPEI field hockey team heads for first playoff

The UPEI Lady Panthers com- pleted their most successful regular season ever in Atlantic Universities field hockey Saturday when they bat- tled the Mount Allison Lady Moun- ties to a scoreless tie.

Saturday’s game at UPEI’s MacA- dam Field was a.tight struggle throughout. UPEI had the clear ad- vantage in play in the first half, but was unable to score. Mount Allison had a few scoring opportunities but did not threaten for most of the half.

The second half was much more closely contested, but again UPEI had the better quality chances, just failing to side. Both goaltenders were sharp as they had to make quality

’ saves. UPEI’s Sandy Jardine came up ote when a Mount Allison forward found herself in alone only to see Jar- dine make a great pad save.
