He and all of Princeville’s 900 éltizens are pinning great hopes on an Army Engineers’ project to stop the Tar River’ from flooding the town. Authorized to begin any time now, the plan is to build a 2%°Mfille dike along the river's south bank.
The project is to be com- pleted next summer and Mat- thewson expects that from then on this eastern North Carolina community will be able to show the world what an all-Negro town can do.
