The annual meeting of the Sp.-ingvale W. I. was held at the home of Mrs. M. Macsween. The president opened the meeting and thirteen members anaws:lng roll call by paying their fees. Two vis- izors were present.

Minutesiof the October meeting M1: the last annual meeting were read and signed.

The president gave an address thanking the members for the help and co-operation each had given her for the past year. Var- ious membe a made a few remarks and a vote of thanks was tendered

The various committees gave their reports and all bills were

handed in and paid.

There was a discuasionregarding mhthm Bands and it was moved and seconded that one be bought in the school.

The correspondence. consisting of several letters, was read: the fin- ancial report was given showing that 1950 had brought the Instit- ute the largest receipts for any your so far.

The collection amounted to .75, and the meeting closed with "The King."

The financial report was read by the secretary and showed a h ' of 5101.00 on hand. The sum of 3370.00 had been spent dur- ing. the year. This included the painting of the hall and donations !to T. B. league, Salvation Army. Red Cross. Manitoba Fund and Copenhagen Fund.

The school has been scrubbed each month and a donation aiven to the Rink Fund. Two thousand more capsules were eivod and five new blinds were ordered for the school.

. The collection amounted to 5 cents. Mrs. Deacon invited the members for the next meet- ing, roll call to be answu-ed with an exchange of Christmas gifts. A hearty vote of thanks was ex- tended to the retiring president and secretary.

The 89th annual meeting of York (Alpha) Women's Institute was held at the home of Mrs. Leigh Vessey. The president, Mrs. Randolph Murray presiding. Meet- ing opened 'by singing the Maple Leaf Forev r, followed by creed in unison. R0 call was responded to by twenty members with two visit- o:s present. Minutes of regular and annual meetings were read and approved.

Fiannalette was distributed am- ong the members to be made .up into a layette, to be sent to needy babies in Europe. Reports of sick and school committees were giv- en.

Appointments of new sick com- mittees as follows. south end of road-Mrs. Eiarle Ling and Mrs. Milton Vessey. North end of mad -Mrs. R. Murray and Mrs. Ern- est MaoDonald. Correspondence was then read by the secretary. It was decided that Mrs. Allan Swim and Mrs. Harry Lewis at- tend the Drmrnatic Course to be held at Winsloe.

Collection amounted to 81.50. The treasurer'gave financial statement for year. The amount made s200.05, Collection for Institutions-6107.00. Total-5387.15.

Expenditures were 3104.54. Balance on hand-sl15.5l.

A box of used clothing and soap was packed for Europe. Several members paid Iees.

The members decided to send Christmas cards to the shut-ins in- stead of boxes as in former years. The school children will get the usual treat. Mrs. E. Bulman acted as auctioneer for our sole and a neat sum was realized from same. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. S. D. Parkman when roll call will be answered with a sympathy or set-wen card. At the close of the meeting lunch was served and the remainder of the evening was spent in working on a quilt for the Orphanage.

SOUTH MILTON I.

The fourteenth annual meeting of south Milton W. I. was held at the beautiful new home of the president with on attendance of fifteen members and five visitors. The meeting opened by singing the Ode and repeating the Creed in unison.

The minutes of the last annual and last monthly meetings were read. approved and signed.

The Secretary-Treasurer. Mrs. Nell MacNeill, gave the financial

report of the years” work showing Receipts for the year 3312.78. Ex- penditures 3002.51, leaving a. bal- ance of 520.27.

Correspondence was read and discussed. The secretary was asked to get N0 Oleum Capsules also to write to liatonls and Simpson's for donations irom their dry goods de- partments. These remnants are to be distributed and made into art- icles for the Auction sale at the December ” -.

The president then thanked the members for their co-operation during the past year. At this time, the election of officers took place. Mira. Winsloe Watts was unanim- ously re-elected as -president for the coming year and Mrs. Charles Inrter as vice-president. It was decided to divide the secretary- treesurer work and Mrs. I-Iibbert Tremere was appointed secretary while Mrs. George Tremere was elected treasurer.
