O'1'l'AWA (CP)-Despite a cut in defence spending, lower revenue: pushed the government's budg- etary accounts into the red by 384,610,000 in September.

September's revenues dropped by 328,754,000 to 3295,95ii,000 from 3:i24,'i12,000 a year ago. Finance Minister Harris reported Friday. This cut revenues for the first half of the year to sl,935,223,000 from 52.088.617.000.

Yields from personal income taxes increased during September. but those from corporation income taxes declined, along with customs import duties. excise taxes and sales taxes.

Government spending during the month also dropped. cut by 527,- 2:'l,000 to 880,577,000 from 5107,- 804.000 last ycar, mainly because of a reduction in defence expend- iturcs. But spending for the.half- year period was down only slightly to 51.871.802.000 from s1,eao,45o.ooo.

Defence spending during Septem- ber dropped by S3il.029,000 to 5124,- 960,000 from 5l62.989,000, cutting the six-month total to s686,-199,000 from s774,993,000.

Among the services the major expenditure ,drop was in the air force, where spending declined to 350,995,000 from 574,361,000 for the month. Mutual aid bills also drop- ped to 017,737,000 from 524,839,000.
