There was no eviderce at all to show that the boy waa guilty of impertinence, nor was there any particular misconduct proven against him. His most heinous offence was threatening to tell his father when the teacher assaulted him.

But it was clearly proved that this teacher, who claimed to act like a firm and

judicious parent, flew into an. insolent passion = With the boy, and not ouly called him vile names

but assaulted him in @ most disreputable manner. Asa result the boy was severely injured and was bleeding from the wounds intl eted by this judicious teacher. After a choice literary and musical programme nad been disposed of to the satisfaction of all, refreshments were passed around. Wixpow Decoraring.—The windows of most of the stores inthe city have been artistically decorated for the holidays. Perhaps the most unique thing in that line that has been seen for many a day mav be noticed in the shop window of Alley & Cu’s. store on Quen Street. The scene illustrates “ Christmas in the Klondyke.” A wmiver is shown digging the yellow metal, while near bis by Christmas dinner is cooking. The pot contains a pair of boots some fur and a bottl—the whole boiling Over 4 siow fire. The mer- cury in the theremometer is “Sout of sight.” The ubiguitous Chinaman is seen weuding hie wav tbrough the snow with that “get there” desire that characterizes the sons of the flowery kingeom. The whole scene has been excelleatly arranged by Mr. Alley, aod is well worth calling to see.

Near bv, inthe store of J.B. Macdonald & Co., Mr. W.d.Brown, one of the popular clerks in that establishment, ha+ decorated the vorth window in a very artistic manner. There are several wreaths of evergreens, the largest being nearest the window, and the smallest besring the face ot Santa Claus surrounded by bootees. The whole arrangement is in excellent taste and ehould be seen to be appreciated.

A PERILOUS PAS:‘AGE

A perilous passage was made yesterday by the Taylor boys, from St. Peter's Island to the mainland, in their endeavor to bring medival relief toasick brother. At this season of the vear the ice and lolly makes around the shore of the little island so that it is impossible to work a sailboat. Under these circumstances, and urged on by the determination to brave every danger iu an effort to bring succor to ove they held dear, the boys ooldly pushed off from the south side of the Island in the oniy boat at their command, a four-oared gig, and made ont into the aogry waters. The wiud was blowing a gale at the time and the water was running io great white waves. The western point was rounded with dfficuity, while the little boat, manned by four strong men, boldly treast- ed the wind aod waves. Encouraged by their parents, who stood on the edge of the bank anxiously watchiag the strenuous etfurts of their brave sons in their deter- mination to Carry Out, in spite of imminent danger, their heroic purpose, the brave lads struggled on andon.
