Among the acts ad ted by the late Legislature, was one abolish- ing all laws forilie oolliiction of debt. Michigan has now in force the monof national reform measures._ No land limitation law has yet been enacted, although the homestead has long been exempted. A number of mercantile firms and dealers in Kalamazoo, since the abolition of the law relating to debt, have announced their intention of publishing the names of all dol' uents, " being well convinced," us they say, “that no man of g intention and honorable prin- ciples wil allow himself to be thus oil before his neighbours and fellow-citizens.” The honour o the man is hereafter to be tbofoundatienof all ordinary transactions. A bold Legislature is that of Michigan.-—The have before abolished capital unishtnent, and now have abolish all obligation to pay debts. set one act more remains to complete their works, and that is, to abolish all laws for the punishment of crime. Then they will have rendered all further legislation needless, and may vote a perpetual dissolu- tion of its own b And yet we are not prepared to say that good will not come of this experiment. It may be well to see how that principle will work in actual experience. In acute respects it will-
