Nearly 16 years of solid pro- gress have been shown by Can- ada Packers Ltd. since the com- pany purchased its present plant from Davis an Fraser meat packers in 1947.

A healthy increase in produc- tion over the years has resulted in Canada Packers increasing the number of its employees to 250. working on a day and night schedule.

Beef. calves, lamb and hogs are slaughtered at this plant and a complete line of Canada Packers Maple Leaf cooked and smoked products is manufactur- ed. including Maple Leaf lard.

A beef buying formula was negotiated with the P.E.I. Beef Producers Association whereby Island farmers are assured of receiving prices for their live- stock in line with other Cana- dian markets.

Jenkins Drugs ﬁrst to start deliverv in city

Jenkins Pharmacy was open- ed in 1910 by Colonel Da niel

acKinnon under the name of MacKinnon‘s Drug Co. at its present site on Great 1 George Street. In 1936 its present own- er, Ralph Jenkins, purchased it from Mr. MacKinnon.

In 1937 a fire destroyed the interior of the store but it was soon rebuilt. The front of the store was remodelled in 1938 and 10 years later the interior was completely done over.

Jenkins Pharmacy. with a staff of six and a special deliv- ery which was the Island's first. is the agent for Rexall Drugs and has the exclusive dealership for Laura Secord products.

Mr. Jenkins is a past presi- dent of the Prince Edward is- land Pharmaceutical Associa- tion for two years and secre- tary registrar for 10 years. He is also a past member of th e Canadian Pharmaceutical As-
