be pretty weak if they leta group like the Feminists dictate whether they should get married ornot! Peo- ple are still getting married, they are just waiting until later in life to do so. I believe this is actually a progressive step, nota detrimental one. By waiting until later in life, when their careers are established, and each of them have a better idea about their life directions, there is likely to be less stress in the marriage. Because the two people have already set themselves more or less in the desired directions, they have more time to devote to thinking about the relationship and each other.

Feminism is not going to make women stop getting married. If a woman is so inclined to be by herself, who had the right to tell her otherwise? It is her life, let her live it the way she wants to. ‘‘The Way It Should Be’’ is right in one respect, however, ‘‘most women would love to be married to a man they love,’’ but he must love her just as much and realize that she is a whole person with her own thoughts, feelings and opinions. If this is overlooked because he wants her to stay home to cook his meals and sacrifice her life and happiness for his, then the marriage is not going to be a happy one.

Feminists, as a group, do not have chips in their shoulders. They are only claiming whatis rightfully theirs, the right to choose, their own opinions, educa- tion, careers,m equal pay and the opportunity to succeed at what they want to do. Notall women make good homemakers, and so some are not good business women. However, those who are should be given the chance to prove themselves. Think of what we would be missing if women like Candice Bergen, Linda Hamilton, Annie Lennox and Lee Aaron had stayed ‘in the kitchen’’. It isnot degrading for a woman to take care of herchildren, husband and home, butit is a big deal if she is denying hew own happiness to do it.

So, to “*The Way It Should Be’’, we don’t want all the power, just equal power, and help with the house- work. Afterall, didn’t your mother ever teach you to share?

Dear Editor,

I would like to clarify a few misunderstandings about my recent ‘‘Ask the Doctor’’ article which appeared in the March 26 issue of The X-Press. Firstly, I would like to say that I an not changing my opinions of feminism on the campus of UPEI. They still hold true for me, however, I would sincerely welcome any arguments to alter my thoughts constructively (unfor- tunately, with the response to my article, my previous ideas have only been re-inforced).

Secondly, I would like to say that I think many peo- ple, especially Libby Whelan, took this article in the wrong way and out of context. It was far froma personal attack on Libby Whelan (I have nevereven met her) butrathera commentary on the way that feminism has made its debut on campus. I did not approve of the censorship pressures placed on ‘‘The Backlash’’ by Libby, as they would open the door for other forms of censorship on campus. I do not ap- prove of censorship, do you? I would also like to say that I did not call Libby ‘‘an annoying strumpet’’. | simply stated that I would sign a petition IF an an- noying strumpet was breathing down my neck. No- where did I mean in amy way for this to apply to Libby and if she has taken it this way I would like to ; apologize for this misunderstanding. Regarding the letter from Nadine De Wolfe in last week’s issue, I had not intended to actually throw any snowballs at anyone, especially Libby Whelan, the idea was a demonstration of my views on The Guardian’s quote from Vaughn Jelliffe.

I was hoping that this article would promote some intelligent thinking, some action towards finding a middle ground and some clarification of what it is that ourcampus’ feminist movement stands for. Unfortunately, I was reprimanded by the Student Union,. misunderstood by most of the campus and
