Dear Editor:

I would like to offer a response to the letter entitled “Dal -Delinquints” written

of the Sun. This letter concerned the conduct of those Dalhousie University students who

participated in a flag football game at

U.P.E.i. during the October l7th weekend. The students were acc- ommodated in Marion, Blanchard, and Berna- dine Hall.

As the Dalhousie organizer, and princi- pal promoter of the event, I am appaled by the irresponsibility displayed on the part of the author of this

editorial piece of trash.

The letter was an insult to the administration of U.P.E.|., completely un- fair to a very competent and hard working student union president, and Slanderous to Dalhousie University.

The group of 80 Dal Students who travelled to U.P.E.|. as part of

myself to this insignifi~ cant issue. Yes, 2 flats 0f beer and a bottle of Wine were indeed given to the Bronson House Bullies! These items Probably cost U.P.E.|.‘s student union 25 to 30 dollars; before Bronson House was to leave P.E.|. they would have collectively spent$3000 C for the weekend. Concerning tickets for a the Fridayinight event, I paid for 80 tickets at a COSt of $2.75 each and resold these tickets to those Bronsonites or ladies who cared to attend the function. Sixty tickets were sold and the

U.P.E.|.‘s door staff for resale.

The insinuation-that Bronson House left U.P.E.|. without paying for their, accommodations is simply irresponsible. Prior to our departure on Sunday October l9th, I paid Phillip Brown $580. which was the outstanding balance

Never before in my dealings with other universities

have i entountered a more conscientious, hard working student president, whose work for the university

went as unappreciated as Phillip's does at U.P.E.i.

It is my hope that the majority of students do not agree with the authors of the October 23rd letter as this would indicate that the U.P.E.l. student population are a bunch of selfish, ungrateful, and self-centered individUals. ‘ '

It is no secret to us here at Bronson House that your university has become somewhat apathetic in recent years. As a resident of Charlottetown l have seen the declining attendance at UPEI functions and I cite the cancellation of Pigs at the Barn last year as an example. Furthermore, had Bronson House not attended the Saturaday afternoon pub. at the Barn the bartenders would have been the only participants. The exhibition flag football game was designed to create a degree of spirit within UPEI which I feel it did; it is a shame that individuals have taken it upon them- selves to criticize Phillip's efforts.
