Mr. Hackett was nominatel for the | west end or the riding by Mr. Patrick Mce | Quina, Palmer Road, seconded by Mr Cor | nelius McLellan, from Lot 14. He was also pomisated from the east end of the riding by Mr. Joho Praught, Lot 14, seconded by Mr, Stephen Arsenault, of We!lington,

Mr. Jerome Blanchard was nomiuated by Mr. Jobn Peters, Duvar Read and eec~ onded by Mr. Charles Gallant.

The ballots were then taken with the re- sult that Mr. Hackett obiained a majority.

‘The President then declared Mr. Hackett the choice of the convention.

Mr. Blauchard then moved that Mr. Hackett’s nomination be made unamimous, which was done with an enthusiastic vote every member on his feet.

The enthusiasm was intense. Mr. Blanchard then made a strong and telling speech endorsing Mr. Hacketv’s nomination

Mr. Hackett then took the platform and for about an hour held the delegates spell~bound with an arraigument of the present bumglers at Ottawa, and was cheered to the echo.

Calls from the delegates brought Mr. J. E. Birch, M. L. A., to his feet, and he respond« ed in a way, judging from the applause, which pleased everyone present,

This closed one of the best and most harmonious conveotions that it has been my pleasure to attend.
