Eagles Edge Greenwood; Take Tri-Service Trophy

SUMMERSIDE — RCAF Sum- merside Eagles defeated Green- wood Bombers 42 in a rough, brawling game on home ice Sat- urday to win the Tri-Service Trophy, emblematic of the Mari- time Armed Forces Hockey Lea- gue championship

Third period goals by George Buffet and Ray Prang and ex- cellent substitute goal-tending by defenceman Bob Bird sparked the Eagles to the victory

Buffet broke up a 2-2 tie early in the finale on a breakaway from the Greenwood blue line and Prang added an insurance marker with less than three minutes remaining. Bird volun- teered to replace Gord MacLean who received a game misconduct in the first period. The other Eagle goalie, Gerry Campbell could not play . Husky Guy Delorme netted a power play goal in the first per- iod to give Greenwood a 1-0 lead before Jean Paul Guy tiled it up with Summerside. short handed

The first period was especial- ly rough with 14 penalties called Delorme was shaken up by a
