Men's Puck Panthers On A Roll

The UPEI Panthers men's hockey team began 2004 with an impressive 8-1 thrashing of the Dalhousie Tigers this past weekend. John Kozoriz recorded his first hat-trick of the sea- son, while Joel Ward notched his ninth of the champagne and also chipped in with three helpers. Also scoring for the panthers was Adam Rivet (2), Darcy Harris, and Thomas Eason. The panthers are unbeaten in their last four games but will be put to the test in the next four days as they have two huge home and home series' with StFX and SMU. With the recent success the guys are producing and a new rink to be open soon, look for these boys to

turn it up for the playoffs.

looking to grab a few big home wins against SMU this weekend, and also next weekend as they travel to Cape Breton to take on the Capers of UCCB

The lady panthers basket- ball team sit only four points out of fourth place in the conference, and third in their division. Their current record of 1-4 does not give the girls justice for the effort they have given -so far this season. The girls have played well defensively but have fell short in the high scoring games. By dropping two games to both division rivals, UCCB and UNB, the Panthers have dug themselves a hole for the new year. With three of their next five games upcoming against SMU, these girls will set their standards high and look to inch their way up the division standings.

UPEI VolleyBall, A Threat To Anyone

At 2-5, the women's vol- leyball team isn't looking too bad.

With their earlier win against Dalhousie, the girls have proven they can beat anyone on any given day. The ladies will be especially looking for revenge on UNB for their 3 set to 2 loss in their last game before the xmas break. Halfway through the season with only nine games remaining in the schedule, the ladies will be focused on every free ball they receive, making sure they do not let any sets slip away.

Women's Hockey Looking Better Each Game

Despite their lack of production in the win column, the women's hockey team seem to be putting the pieces together for a high scoring 2004. The girls have notched 9 goals all season but recorded 5 of those goals in their last two games. They have 6 games remaining and still can sneak their way into the playoffs if they can con- tinue to put the puck in the net and cut down on unnecessary penalties.
