but the other, thongh badly damaged, will be repaired. The loss is roughly estimated at $25,000. As soon as the news of the accident reached Augusta, a relief train, With surgeons, employes of the Maine Cen- tral Railroad, and others, weut to the scene of the disaster to render whatever aid they could. VisifS PORTIONS OF ILLINOIS AND WISCONSIN —OVER SIXTY PERSONS KILLED AND HUN- DREDS WOUNDED-—-A HOUSE BLOWN OUT OF SIGHT. A cyclone passed through Illinois on Friday doing great damage. A number of persons are reported seriously injured and one is dead. The storm came from the southwest passing half a mile west of Ship- mans, and one mile east of Plainsview and covered a space of about a quarter of a mile ia width. : From advices recived in Chicago from points in Ihnois visited by the eyelone of Friday night, 54 deaths have already been reported in the State and a number injured—estimated at nearly 200. Owing to the bad conditioa of the wires north of Milwaukee, no accurate account of the loss of life in Wisconsin can be made, : A terrific and destructive eyclone from the southeast passed over Dewitt County, Ul, on Friday, doing immense damage wherever it struck. Hail fell as large as hickory nuts and one house was hlown out of sight; three persons were killed and tive wounded, some perhaps tateliy. Several miles south of Carlinville, Til, the residenees of Frank Rice and George Baker were demolished

by the storm of Feiday night. Mrs. Frank Rice, Mrs. George Baker and two of the latter’s grandchildren

were killed outright and three other per- sons seriously wounded, and one of whom will probably die. : The residence of C. A. Stone, three miles south-east of Mason City, Ill., was destroyed by Friday

night’s storm and a young ebild killed

Hannah Race, a servant girl, was also killed, and seven other inmates of the house injured. Most of those who were wounded during the cyclone at Clinton, [il , on Friday night are improving slowly. There are no new developments, with the exception of two more houses and a barn being added to the property destroyed, The damage to property is very great. r Additional details gathered from varions sources show that the tornado of lust Friday night made its way through three counties of Missonri— Montgomery, Warren and St. Charles—and besides des- troying a large amount of property, kiile! and more or less serivusly wounded over 20 persons.

Daniel Curley, the s-cond man convicted of participation in the marder of Cavendish and Barke, was hanged in Kilmainham jai! ar 8 oclock, a wm.,on the 18thinst.
